Western Lakes State on Friday joined rest of South Sudan in celebrating World AIDS Day.

Danis Grace, reproductive health officer in Lakes States, says the day is to remember those infected with HIV/AIDS and those who lost their lives in the battle with virus, Radio Good News reports.

She says the virus is contracted through infected fluids from mother to baby during pregnancy and after delivery.

Grace urges parents and communities to sensitize young people about dangers of HIV and AIDS.

Daniel Agnesa, Cuom County Coordinator urges communities to stop cultural practices which contribute to infection of HIV.

The day was celebrated under the theme: ‘Stop HIV in our community’.
