The membership of South Sudan in the East African Community or EAC will profit the whole region politically and socio-economically, says Secretary-General of the Bloc.

Kazaura Kamugisha says the presence of the young country will increase inter-regional trade, cross-border investments and elimination of non tariff barriers within the region.

The Community will participate in the international economic competition for the benefit of its entire people, he stresses.

Secretary-General Kamugisha appeals to South Sudan journalists to take ownership of the Bloc and enlighten the people of the new country in the Community.

He says East Africa has put in place a road map for the addition of South Sudan into the Community.

The Chairman of the National Editors’ Forum, Koang Pal Chang, appreciates EAC Secretariat and German Development Agency or GIZ for facilitating South Sudan journalists to get skills on the integration of the country to the Community.

South Sudan Journalists, Editors and Public Information Officers feel part of the East African Community with this training, Pal stresses.

He adds that now South Sudan journalists understood about benefits the country will get from the Community.

The officials spoke during the closing of four-day training on the integration of South Sudan into East Africa at the Community headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania over the weekend.
