FAO distributes dry season vegetable seeds to over 3000 beneficiaries in Yei

Food and Agricultural Organization, FAO on Wednesday distributed seven different types of dry season vegetable seeds and hoe to internally Displaced persons, IDPs and vulnerable households within Yei town.
 
The seeds include tomatoes, onions and hoes to help IDPs improve their livelihood.
 
Isaac Luwate Philip, a beneficiary says the seeds have helped him and his family a lot with food and money to send his children to school after selling the produce.
 
Another beneficiary, Alon Suzan says she had no money to buy food stuff and other needs, but with the distribution, she is able to support herself and her children.
 
Mary David expresses happiness because the seeds distributed in April this year, has changed her life because she can feed well.
 
Philip Fong, Emergency Coordination Manager for FAO says the organization targets Yei because the number of vulnerable households has increased, according to the recent Food security report.
 
He believes supporting people gives them hope and dignity.
 
This is the fourth time FAO is supporting farmers in Yei since last year.
