East African Community or EAC is training (19) South Sudanese journalists on the new country’s integration in the bloc in Arusha, Tanzania.
The four-day training that started on Tuesday is to equip the journalists with information to enlighten South Sudanese masses on the country’s benefit in the Community.
Secretary-General of the Community, Liberat Mfukukeko, says South Sudan’s presence in the East African Community would increase its economic growth.
Your country is going to benefit from East African Community in all fields, he adds.
Ambassador Mfukukeko urges South Sudan journalists and editors to report stories on the process of the integration of the new country to the Community.
Earlier, GIZ Head of Program in Tanzania, Bernd Multhaup appeals to journalist of the new member country to the EAC to be honest in delivering news to people of the region.
He calls on the journalists to raise the awareness of South Sudanese on benefits of the country will get in East African Community membership including free movement of people and goods and developmental projects.
The four-day training is expected to end on Friday.
