Imotong State Assembly Speaker welcomes the order President Salva Kiir issued for immediate evacuation of cattle camps of Jonglei, Lakes and Terekeka States from Equatoria region.
Charles Udwar says the decision president took is in line with the urgent matter the state assembly discussed in August which resolved that the cattle be taken away from farm areas, Radio Emmanuel reports.
The Speaker appreciates President Kiir for accepting the needs of the people.
He says the order came after Governor Tobiolo Alberio wrote a letter to the president on the resolutions made by Imotong State Assembly in August.
Speaker Udwar assures Imotong State readiness to cooperate with implementing agents to ensure safe passage of cows to their respective states.
President Kiir directed Chief of General Defense Forces to implement the order without delay and coordinate with UNMISS to assist with transport and security.
The order tells leaders of pastoralists’ communities to advise the cattle keepers to cooperate with SPLA forces during the evacuation.
Earlier, communities of greater Magwi Counties threatened not to participate in the national dialogue should there be no evacuation of herders from their land.
