Government introduces new technology to crackdown criminals in Juba

The Police Spokesperson says the national government will install cameras in the streets of Juba to monitor criminals and manage security situation in the area.
 
Brigadier Daniel Justine Achor says the Ministry of Interior plans at least one month training for staff on how to operate cameras and other equipments before launching.
 
He says a police force will be deployed in areas where cameras are put to protect them.
 
Brigadier Justine says a camera covers at least five hundred meters in any area.
 
He says there is already a command centre to monitor any activity captured in the cameras and the centre will direct patrol teams to where a crime is taking place.
 
The Spokesperson describes the cameras as very essential in reducing crimes, manage security and will help in terms of evidence before the court.
 
Brigadier Justine says the cameras will be fixed in Konyo-Konyo, Malakia, Juba, Jebel markets and Banks and other areas in the city.
 
The spokesperson discloses that the cameras will crack criminals breaking in to people’s cars and steal property.
 
Brigadier Justine calls on the public to report any criminal activity early enough for investigation to take place so that perpetrators are brought to book.
