The Acting Coordinator for Justice and Peace in the Catholic Diocese of Torit says for peace to prevail, individuals must have it in them and extend to others.

Radio Emmanuel quoted Mike Andruga saying it is a collective responsibility to generate peace ideas at all levels.

Citizens need awareness on the importance of peace and stability, he adds.

Peace is a process that needs time and cannot happen overnight, says Margret Idwa Okuye, Deputy Chairpersons for Women Groups at Holy Rosary Parish in Torit.

She calls on citizens to take a lead in bringing peace in the state because it requires commitment.

Absence of peace at home causes continuous destruction and conflict in the state, says William Kaura Michael, youth from Saint Peter and Paul Parish.

Kaura calls on youth to build strong relationship among them to reduce conflicts.

The speakers made the remarks during a two-day workshop on peace building and conflict mitigation in Torit on Saturday.
