South Sudanese activists urge Kenyans to choose peace over violence

Some South Sudanese civil society activists and faith based groups are urging Kenyan politicians and the entire citizens to choose peace over violence as they undergo the re election process.
 
In a statement seen by Catholic Radio Network, activists from twelve groups are meeting in the Ugandan capital; Kampala, urge the people of Kenya to resolve their differences through peaceful means.
 
‘Contentions issues should be resolved through peaceful and legal means, including dialogue and judicial processes’ the statement adds.
 
Activists called on the people of Kenya to maintain calm and to express their views through democratic and non-violent means.
 
They also appealed to all Kenyans security forces to exercise maximum restraint and act within the law. They should also maintain the political neutrality and professionalism.
 
The statement says Kenyans should learn from the experience of South Sudanese and take possible measures to prevent the country from falling into a protracted conflict.
 
Kenyans went to polling stations on Thursday this week bur there has been some reports on violence in some parts of the country after the main opposition leader Raila Odinga announced his withdrawal from the re run election last week.
