A midwife at Torit State Hospital is encouraging husbands to accompany their pregnant wives to antenatal care centre.

Peter Mawel says many women visit the centres without support from their husbands or any family member, Radio Emmanuel reports.

Giving antenatal care information to women alone contributes to information gap between the pregnant women, husbands and health officials, she notes.

The midwife believes that complications during pregnancy can be corrected through information sharing.

Mawel urges fellow men and families to reduce signs of dangers during pregnancies and birth by sharing information with health officials during antenatal care visits.

Yohanna Beda, a medical Doctor at Torit State Hospital, admits that pregnant women do present different signs of dangers at the institute.

He calls for time visits to the hospital to avoid further complications.

Beda appeals to the government to improve roads to facilitate movements of people to the hospital.

He advises women not to deliver at home or lose her life during delivery or after child birth.

The health officials made the comments during a talk show over Radio Emmanuel.
