The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) has elected Abdulazeez Adam Al-Hilu, the chairman of the movement.
The move comes during the extraordinary national convention that took place in Kauda of Hieban County, Nuba Mountains. Voice of Peace Radio reports.
Thousands of citizens gathered in Kauda freedom square on Thursday evening to witness the victory of their leader as he moves around waving to them.
The General convention which started on 8 to 12 October also discussed amendments and approval of the constitution as well as SPLM-N manifesto
Members and supporters of SPLM-North believe the convention opens a new phase of the struggle.
The convention was attended by several dignitaries from abroad and other parties in Sudan.
