The head of Join Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC, a body tasked to oversee the implementation of peace agreement in South Sudan, says women must not let the window of opportunity for peace in the country closed.
Speaking at the opening remarks at South Sudan’s Women Parliamentarians Caucus in Juba on Friday, Festus Mogae urges women to hold the parties in the agreement accountable to their commitments to peace agreement.
Mogae believes that South Sudan’s women are real agent of peaceful transformation in communities the well over, says South Sudan’s women are not exceptional.
You as members of parliament have a voice that you can deploy to advance gender equality, Mogea adds. He says women should make sure grass roots citizens understand and own the agreement so they can make the parties accountable.

Despite the challenges, some little progress has been made in reaching the communities.
Mogae insists there is an urgent need to increase women participation in the peace process and the implementation in particular.
