The Governor of Imotong State has confirmed that a baby girl has been killed and three other people wounded on Thursday in an ambush by unknown gunmen along Torit Juba road.
Tobiolo Alberio Oromo says the people are refugees returning from Kakuma refugee camp travelling through Torit to Juba, Radio Emmanuel reports.
He describes the incident as unfortunate that happens during the commemoration of the international peace day.
Governor Alberio says road attacks show that the armed men have no political agenda to oppose the government.
He says the national dialogue is inclusive to table grievances of all parties.
Governor Alberio urges the population not to panic but continue with their normal activities.
He says investigations are going on to bring the perpetrators to book.
The Governor was addressing citizens at the freedom Square in Imotong State last week, marking the International day of peace.
