The National Ministry of Justice and stakeholders have on Tuesday validated a draft manual on the investigation and prosecution of sexual and gender based violence cases in South Sudan.
Filberto Mayuot Mareng, Director of Public Prosecution told Bakhita Radio that the document is designed to help investigators and prosecutors on cases of sexual and gender based violence, SGBV.
He explains that the document will be so much useful if only such cases are reported to police and investigative agencies for proper investigation.
Mayuot says there have been reports from UN human rights and other gender based violence agencies that indicate alarming situation of SGBV cases in the country.
But he insists that only raising awareness will help encourage the victims of such actions to report perpetrators.
The draft Manual was prepared by UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
