A religious leader from the Episcopal Church of South Sudan says some cultures in the country still encourage gender based violence in their communities.
Reverend Undo Elisa Mukasi says one of the major challenges the Church faces in combating GBV are the cultures and norms. Bakhita radio reports.
He cites that other communities still beat women, others treat them like slaves though the few one respect women.
Rahma Saidi, one of the participants urges all women to stand strong and raise their voices against atrocities committed upon them and their children.
Galdino Ojok, CEPO programmes manager says the purpose of calling the religious leaders for this workshop is to integrate the GBV issues into their preaching.
The Officials spoke to journalist after the opening of a two day workshop under the theme “towards free gender based violence South Sudan” held in Juba on Tuesday.
