Media Development institute selects 25 new students for 2017/2018 Academic year

The Media Development Institute or MDI has selected (25) journalists students who fulfilled the selective criteria of admission for academic year 2017-18.
 
The Association for media development is South Sudan; AMDISS’ Acting Chairperson Mary Ajjith says the institute is intending to build capacity of young journalists and train them for the profession, Bakhita Radio reports.
 
Ajith encourages the new students to utilize the opportunity and make sure they finish their course.
 
Moses Hakim, the Institute’s principal and secretary says the institute used a criterion considering practicing Journalists, graduates and fresh students but most of the candidates did not perform well during the interviews.
 
He says only one student got 62 percent in the English test.
 
Hahim expresses the need to introduce Basic English lessons to the new students.
 
Meanwhile, some of the twenty-five enrolled students expressed joy to meet the institute’s standards.
 
Kakule Viola Santo a student of communications at University of Juba and her colleague Opio Jackson a practicing journalist.
 
They explain that they joined the institution to build their capacity in journalism.
 
This is the second time MDI holds journalism trainings after the success of the first batch that graduated and awarded with advanced certificates in December 2016
