The Emeritus Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Torit is appealing to South Sudanese to get rid of tribalism in the country in order to have peace.

Paride Taban says he retired early to start Kuron Peace Village because he does not want South Sudan to be destroyed by tribalism.

Kuron Peace Village was founded in early 2005 to unite local population of Kapoeta East as an example of peaceful cohabitation.

The Bishop believes tribes are created by God, but tribalism is made by human being.

He calls for peace, saying history should tell South Sudanese that war cannot help the nation.

Bishop Paride says those who fought during the World War no longer exist.

Fr James Oyet, General Secretary of South Sudan Council of Churches confirms that the African Union will award Bishop Taban for his resilience for peace.

He invites all South Sudanese to join a prayer service for peace this Thursday 21 of September, at All saints Cathedral Mobil from ten o’clock in Juba.

Bishop Taban and Oyet, urge leaders to work for genuine peace in the country.
