The Acting Head of the Association for Media Development in South Sudan, AMDISS has urged the media regulatory body in South Sudan to preview the act that established the media Authority.

Mary Ajith says ordering all media houses to register to the Media Authority is unlawful move taken by the authority, Bakhita Radio reports.

She expresses that AMDISS did not object to register but it’s operating under the law.

Ajith explains that publishing list of some unregistered media outlets like AMDISS is purposed to discredit the works of such institutions.

She challenges the Authority to widely open doors for dialogue rather than seeing them as enemies.

The Association’s boss was addressing the first general assembly of the Media Development Institute on Friday.

Unregistered media outlets were given an ultimate period of two weeks to register for smooth running of their operations without interference of the authority.
