A member of the Lutheran Church in Debi in Hieban County of Nuba Mountains blames youth for leaving farming and turning to mining.

Zekiah Zachariah says the young people have rushed to remove gold and left the elderly to cultivate, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

She notes that the elderly cannot produce enough food for everybody.

Zekiah advises the Nuba people to plant crops and harvest first and later go to other jobs because money without food will not benefit people.

Many people have resorted to mining gold so as to make their living in a place that has low employment opportunities.
