The new minister of Gender and Social Development on Wednesday instructed the Director of Child Welfare to register all street children in the state.
Mabil Ater Deng says the director formed a four-member committee to start the exercise in Tonj main market, Kotchok, Wanalel and Thorchok on Thursday, Radio Don Bosco reports.
He calls on the public to cooperate with social workers in identifying the right street children.
Registered children will be interviewed and those found parentless will be kept the rehabilitation centre, he adds.
The minister discloses that the children will have basic services in the centre to become state and national leaders in the future.
