Chairlady of Lakes’ General Women Association, Rachael Agum Kuc calls for an end to communal conflicts and cattle raiding so that peace prevails in the state, Radio Good News reports.
Social change can only be achieved through women empowerment in the society, says Stalin Gabre-Selasse of UNMISS.
He believes change can come into the country if South Sudanese women are empowered.
Some pupils who participated in the program expressed their happiness for joining such an occasion.
UNMISS Women Protection Advisor Henewaa Owoo says women have a role to play in ending the violence and cycle of revenge in the community.
The occasion was celebrated in Rumbek town under the theme: ‘Stand up for peace’.
