Seven students from Savannah High School of Western Lakes appeared in the state top ten of South Sudan Secondary School exams results this year.
Petro Thon Anyiel of Savannah leads the state with 87.5 percent and John Ayew Makender of Rumbek National Secondary School with 86.8 percent, Radio Good News reports.
Western Lakes State Minister of Education, Dut Makoi Kuok says among top ten best performing students, two are girls from Savannah and Loreto Secondary Schools.
He urges parents to give their daughters a chance to read when they are in schools.
The number of female students is smaller in the best ten because they are always kept busy at homes, the minister points out.
Makoi says out of 805 students who registered to sit 37 were absent without clear reasons of not attempting the exams.
Savanna High School, Loreto and Mapuordit Secondary passed all among schools that sat in Western Lakes this year.
