Tonj Municipality forms committee to monitor market prices

Tonj Municipal Council on Friday formed a committee to monitor prices of goods especially meat in the town.
 
A member of the council, Arkangelo Maruop Nyang says the aim of the committee is to regulate prices, Radio Don Bosco reports.
 
The member explains that the committee, officials and one of butchers bought a cow at 31, 200 South Sudanese Pounds to be slaughtered and sold in their presence to know the amount of money each cow brings.
 
Butchers increased the meat price from 18o to 240 pounds with the knowledge of the Municipal authorities, he adds.
 
Maruop says they are selling the bull meat and will determine the price in the office of the Mayor after they see the money whether there is profit or no.

Butchers and Municipal authorities and the committee are still arguing on a price of a kilo of meat.
