Child killed when WFP plane hit house in Juba

A five-year old child died and a boy, another girl and two women were injured when WFP plane knock a tree and house while landing on Tuesday, confirms United Nations World Food Program or WFP Country Director.
 
Adnan Khan in a statement on Thursday explains that Ilyushin-76 cargo hit a tree and then a single roof house when attempting to land at Juba Airport during heavy rain after airdropping food to needy people.
 
He says that WFP extends its deepest condolences to the family and that the thoughts and prayers of all staff of the agency are with them.
 
The Country Director pledges that WFP will provide all possible support to the family in this time of terrible tragedy.
 
Khan says the safety and well-being of the people of South Sudan are the top priority.
 
He notes that WFP and aviation authorities will examine closely the cause of the incident so that innocent lives are not put at risk.
