The Chairperson of the Association for Media Development in South Sudan or AMDISS, Alfred Taban Logune has resigned from his position.
He stepped down after he was appointed a national Member of Parliament representing Kajo-Keji County in the ticket of SPLM-IO of Taban Deng Gai.
AMDISS executive board in an extraordinary meeting on Friday accepted the resignation and appointed Deputy Chairperson, Mary Ajith Goch, to act as the leader until the next general assembly meeting.
AMDISS appreciates and recognizes the tremendous contributions and dedications of Alfred Taban during his service as a chairperson and founding member of the association.
He championed campaigns for freedom of expression and media in South Sudan which is the central value of AMDISS.
It pledges to continue working and commits to its vision of independent, sustainable, representative and democratic association that advances the freedom of expression and press and professional journalism.
AMDISS thanks all stakeholders, donors, diplomatic corps and public for supporting its work and standing in solidarity to promote freedom of expression and media in the young country.
