The Inter-faith Council for Peace began a dialogue for healing and reconciliation between Azande and Jur-beri ethnic groups in Yambio County of Gbudue State.
The aim is to build trust and reunite the two tribes in order to restore peace in the county, Radio Anisa reports.
Openly speak out everything that are the root causes of conflict, says Fr Thomas Bagbiowia on behalf of the Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio, chairperson of the Council.
He says the Council will continue to work for peaceful co-existence in the state and the country at large.
The priest appreciates the government of Gbudue State and other partners for funding the programme of reconciliation to restore peace in the country.
Philip Gbambi, Yambio County Commissioner, says the government is working to know the causes of violence and resolve it to bring peace.
He urges all people to recall the peace and unity that South Sudanese had during the liberation struggle time and embrace the spirit of unity in diversity.
Jackson Ezekiel Bugwa, Gbudue state minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement, praises church leaders’ continuous efforts to restore peace in the state.
The government will not left any stone unturned in search for peace in the state, he pledges.
The speakers made the remarks at the opening of three-day dialogue for peace and reconciliation between the Azande and Beri ethnic group in Yambio on Tuesday.
