Government launches state-owned telecom company

The national government has launched a state -owned Telecommunication Company call Niletel in partnership with Sudanese businessman Ashraf Seed Ahmed.
 
Speaking during the ceremony on Tuesday, Information Minister Michael Makuei says Niletel seeks to cover the entire South Sudan.
 
He says the government will have a 25 percent share in the company and the rest is by private investors.
 
Wafi Adam Hamdan, Chief Executive Officer of Niletel, says telecommunication provider will fully operate across South Sudan in the next eight months.
 
If operational, there will be four telecommunications companies in South Sudan.
