Two children of St John Primary School in Hieban County of Nuba Mountains died while crossing a river earlier this month.

The children are girls aged between 12 and 17 years old, attempted to cross the river after seeing some adults who crossed before, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

Eyewitness explained that the girls held each other while trying to get to the other side of the river.

There were no heavy rains at the time so the school children thought that the water was shallow.

Many children have died this year because of heavy rain.

In another news development, a young boy died on Sunday after falling from a donkey that he rode in Gidel Saturday market.

Early this year a young boy from Kawalib fell from a donkey that he was transporting water with and was seriously injured.
