South Sudan on Wednesday celebrated Girl’s Education Day in Juba under the theme: ‘Let all girls go to school”.
Undersecretary in the ministry of General Education and Instruction Michael Lopuke Lotyam says enrolment of girls in the country has improved, Radio Bakhita reports.
The Girls Education South Sudan or GESS initiative increases the percentage of the girls in schools is likely to improve, he adds.
Girls Education South Sudan team leader Akuja De Garang advises girls to take education seriously.
Head of UK Department for International Development, DFID South Sudan Becks Bucking Ham says they are would reach over 200 thousand girls this year.
The event brought together girls from different secondary school in Juba.
United Nations declared International Girl Education Day to give girls more education opportunities and increases awareness of gender inequality worldwide.
