South Sudan Grassroots Initiative for Development on Sunday conducted workshop on the importance of girl child education.

Mary Nyanbul Gum, Program Coordinator, says the workshop is to empower girls to take their studies as the first priority in life, Radio Don Bosco reports.

The second reason is for girls to talk to their parents to allow them continue with their education instead of forcing them into early marriages, she explains.

It is the mandate of the community of Tonj State to encourage girls to go to school, Nyanbul says.

The program officer recalls that she was listening to people encouraging her to continue studying, not those forcing her to early marriage.

Nyanbul emphasizes that there is no age limit for education.
