Association for Media Women in South Sudan or AMWISS calls on media houses to empower female Journalists to enable them perform like their male counterparts.

Mary Justo Tombe, a representative of the Association, says they are trying to reduce gender inequality in media houses, Radio Bakhita reports.

Gender mainstreaming is important in the context of South Sudan because male Journalists dominate media houses, she notes.

The female top journalist explains that it is important for men and women to work together.

Mrs Justo made the statement during a one-day orientation workshop for Journalists on gender equality under the theme: ‘Stakeholders are the cornerstone in project implementation’.

The workshop brought together seventeen Journalists from different media houses in Juba.
