The Holy Father does not forget victims of the conflict in South Sudan, says, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development in Vatican City of Rome, Italy.
Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson told Journalists on Wednesday that Pope Francis ‘firmly hopes to be able to make an official visit to the country as soon as possible’.
The Pontiff remembers in his prayers and heart all people forced to flee their country as a result of abuse, injustice and war, the Cardinal stresses.
The Prefect explains that the Church urges bold choices and belief that Divine Providence is capable of achieving what the world sees impossible.
He stressed that ‘the Holy See continues to do all it can to stop the fighting in South Sudan’.
‘If this can be done, a visit by the Pope and by Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will take place’, Cardinal Kodwo adds.
Greg Burke, director of the Holy See Press Office, recently noted that the conditions in the young country did not permit for an October 2017 visit as hoped.
‘The visit is not expected to take place until at least 2018’, he projects.
