The US government urges the warring parties to end conflict and return to the path of peace so that displaced people can return home and begin rebuilding their lives.

US Ambassador to South Sudan, Molly Phee in a statement on World Refugee Day in Juba says US is deeply regretting the brutal and senseless conflict in South Sudan which has displaced more than one-third of the population

She urges leaders of the young country to recognize that the level of support they and other partners provide is not sustainable.

Since the start of conflict in South Sudan in December 2013, the US has provided 2.4 billion dollars to support the humanitarian response for the country, she reminds.

The US help includes more than 62.5 million dollars additional funding announced on May 24 to help South Sudanese refugees, explains Ambassador Phee.

The United States commends South Sudan for hosting nearly 270,000 refugees from neighboring countries, she notes.
