Nineteen calves were stolen after renewal of cows looting among communities in Hieban County of Nuba Mountains, says a cattle keeper.

Mokhtar Tabanja told Radio Voice of Peace that raiding in Kambar area early this week followed stealing of a camel from some nomads.

Tabanja suspects that the nomads might have followed their lost camel and took the calves as revenge.

The pastoralist explains that many farmers have abandoned their gardens because they fear attacks by raiders.

He warns of more hunger should the raids continue and people do not have the chance to cultivate.

Farmers and nomads had earlier agreed not to steal cattle from each other.
