Increasing number of cattle is dying in Nuba Mountains due to lack of pasture.

Jamal Tutu Saaid, a herdsman in Ndraffi area lost more than 20 cows because of the shortage of grass and water, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

He adds that the burning of grass to prepare land for agriculture is also contributing to the dying of cattle.

Tutu urges people not to burn grass because it destroys the last bits of food for animals.

Biology teacher, Denis John Kanda, explains that animals can be protected from dying by separating the sick from the healthy ones.

Cattle keepers say the situation for their animals will stay unstable until the rains start in the Nuba Mountains.
