The Information Minister acknowledges that journalists are important in a community as Union of Journalists with different media houses in Wau joined the globe to commemorate the World Press Freedom Day on Wednesday.
David John Ponis says it is government’s responsibility to protect journalists to fulfill their work with safety and freedom, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
It is not right to torture and make journalists suffer in their work because they are important members in communities, he adds.
John says maintaining security of journalists is the primary responsibility of the government.
