Mary’s meal, a charity organization in Scotland has donated food aid worth six hundred thousand US Dollars for school feeding program to 19 schools under the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek.
Education Coordinator Moses Kiprot Kenyi says they received over 3,000 bags of maize flour, sorghum and beans, Radio Good News reports.
He adds that they have also received over 700 jerry cans of cooking oil and packages of salt and soap respectively.
Mr Kiprot says the food aid is enough to fight hunger for two terms.
The Education Coordinator appreciates Mary’s Meal for also supporting the ‘take home ratio’ to 7 schools.
A “take home ratio” is a support given to pupils to take home during holidays to encourage children to come back to school.
The Education Coordination office is optimistic that the school feeding program will help children perform well in this famine period in South Sudan.
