The Humanitarian Coordinator ad interim for South Sudan demands the warring parties to uphold their responsibilities to protect thousands of civilians sheltering in and around Aburoc of Upper Nile.
Civilians in Aburoc are living in fear, not knowing of what will happen to them each day, Serge Tissot says in a statement.
He calls on the government to respect civilians and ensure they are not subject to attacks.
Tissot also calls on the opposition forces to ensure that populated areas by civilians remain demilitarised.
He says thousands of civilians have arrived into Aburoc very exhausted and weak without access to sufficient water due to conflict along the River Nile.
Tissot says thousands are also reportedly moving towards Sudan because of fear of possible future attacks.
It is entirely unacceptable that they are being forced to flee their home land, Tissot warns the warring parties.
He demands for immediate return of all looted humanitarian assets in Aburoc, which are vital to life-saving humanitarian action.
