JMEC tells SPLA to ‘stop violence immediately’

The chairman of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation on Friday told SPLA to ‘stop all ongoing violence in the country immediately’.
 
Festus Mogae in a statement CRN saw says their ceasefire body CTSAMM is currently receiving reports that SPLA is moving to areas housing displaced persons in Upper Nile especially in Kodok and Aburoc.
 
He expects all combatants to cease hostilities immediately as CTSAMM monitor the situation closely.
 
CTSAMM have requested immediate permission to visit Kodok in Upper Nile State.
 
The request followed UNMISS reports that the recent clashes bewtwen SPLA and Agwelek forces have displaced up to 25,000 people from their homes on the West Bank of the Nile in the past week.
 
JMEC Chairman in his plenary speech two days ago believed that central command and control of armed forces and groups around the country may have broken down.
