David De Dau says there are no food leftovers in restaurants around Juba and other places.
He adds that a number of women, children and men in Juba are forced to beg money.
De Dau says the civil servants in South Sudan have not been paid their salaries for three months, yet the dollar rate is skyrocketing.
He wonders where the government expects the workers to get their money from.
Rajab Mohandis, Executive Director and South Sudanese Network for Democracy and Elections or SSuNDE, advises the public to be patient, calm and peaceful while the civil society organizations dialogue with the government to address the economic crisis.
The United Nations earlier said people are dying of starvation in some parts of South Sudan and it issued a formal famine declaration.
The civil society officials where speaking on Tuesday representing thirteen civil society organizations in a joint statement concerning the current economic situation in South Sudan.
