The United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Human Rights and Civil Affairs sections is in Yei to know the situation in the state.
The team is meeting church leaders to understand the situation in the area and to set up strategies, Radio Easter reports.
Anthony Nwopa of UNMISS Human Rights says the purpose of visiting Yei River State is to find ways of bringing peace, monitor human rights violations and protect civilians.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe of the Catholic Diocese of Yei appreciates UNMISS for making Yei a priority, an initiative that the people have been waiting for.
He adds that the religious ecumenical team has been scattered due to the ongoing crisis in the country.
The UNMISS team is expected to stay in Yei for three weeks.
