Clowns without Borders on Tuesday drew hundreds of internally displaced children in the United Nations protection of civilians’ camp in Juba for music entertainment.

The comedians were brought into the country as part of a psychosocial initiative to heal children traumatized by conflict, says Aaron Shapiro, Grants Coordinator of VISTAS, a USAID funded program, Radio Bakhita reports.

Children who attended the performances told Radio Bakhita that the clowns’ performance has helped to relax their minds from their bad experiences.

Clowns without Borders’ is an international organization that supports children in conflict zones and refugee camps to be resilient through laughter.

The prolonged conflict in South Sudan has left many children parentless, leading to trauma.
