The UN needs to create more protection of civilians’ sites in conflict-affected areas, said General-Director of Medicines San Frontiers of MSF in South Sudan.
According to Arjan Hehenkamp, UN is limiting its mandate of the protection of civilians by only focusing on particular areas.
He said increasing the number of the UN sites will keep civilians safe from harm and violence.
Hehenkamp spoke to media in Juba before his departure to MSF headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands over the weekend.
According to UNMISS, currently there are over 200 thousand people seeking protection at the UN camps in Juba, Bentiu, Wau, Bor, Melut and Malakal.
