The acting chairperson of internally displaced persons or IDPs in Tonj on Wednesday requested state authorities to help them with food and non-food items.

James Ayut says they have not yet received any help from the government, but hopes they will be assisted, Radio Don Bosco reports.

He expresses happiness on the accommodation because they are located in a secured place.

Ayut says many people have come from different places to seek safety.

One of the IDPs, Victoria Hakim, appeals to the government to protect them and calm down the insecurity situation in the area.

The IDPs ask the warring parties to put down their guns and join the national dialogue.
