Due the current situation in South Sudan, all stakeholders in partnership with UNDP want to look at sexual gender-based violence in a wide view, says Lucy Elundah UDP Law Enforcement Advisor, Radio Anisa reports.
Pia Phillip Michael, State Minister of Education, praises UNDP for organising the symposium on gender issues.
He says the workshop emerged with recommendations including creating awareness and establishing special protection unit to handle sexual gender-based violence in the state.
Edward Eliminio Mumbasa, Yambio Deputy Chief, calls on the government not to ignore traditional leaders, because they play a great role, as culture is concerned.
He urges community leaders to do their part first before referring the issue to police for further investigations.
The symposium brought together state ministers, judges, social workers; traditional leaders UNMISS representative and other UN agencies in Yambio.
