UNMISS launches sport for peace football tournament in Rumbek

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS on Wednesday launched sport for peace football competition in Western Lakes State.
 
The tournament consisting of 16 teams from first and second divisions in Rumbek aims at bringing peace among youth of different clubs, Radio Good News reports.
 
Local Football Association Chairman in the state Ater Deng Mabok urges UNMISS and partners to support sports’ activities because they bring harmony.
 
Kwame Dawamina UNMISS Lakes Region Coordinator says the Mission supports sports to realize peace and development in Western Lakes and other states.
 
Speaker of Western Lakes Assembly Marik Nanga Marik urges football players to make best use of the tournament for their benefit and the whole state.
 
The opening of peace tournament on Wednesday at Rumbek Freedom Square started with a game between Beek and Gold teams, ending one-zero in favour of Beek.
