SPLA has dismissed accusations by resigning generals that the South Sudan army is tribal.

Spokesman, Brigadier Lul Ruai Koang told journalists on Monday that all the accusations made were false, Radio Bakhita reports.

The resigning officers accused the SPLA leadership of favouritism and perpetuating tribal agenda.

But, Brigadier-General Ruai says all the accusations were meant to tarnish the image of the army.

The SPLA has been accused of human rights’ violations including rape, murder and looting of civilians’ property.

Several army generals have resigned, citing tribalism in the system.

On Friday, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Andrew Gilmour urged South Sudan government and opposition forces to stop human rights’ violations.
