Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF says it cannot continue to bear a massive burden of providing primary and secondary health care service in Abyei for a long time.

It is essential that more humanitarian organizations respond to the most urgent medical needs in Abyei area, says Raphaël Veicht, the MSF Head of Mission in South Sudan.

MSF cannot be the only organisation supporting the Ministry of Health and offering healthcare within an area of more than 150 thousand people in Abyei, he says.

The medical agency says it has to focus on secondary healthcare.

Some organizations providing primary healthcare should rush to Abyei for service, the official urges.
