Arshad Khan tells South Sudan leaders during the launch of the National Adaptation Programme of Action, or NAPA to Climate Change in Juba that addressing climate change is a collective responsibility.
He advises everybody not to cut down trees to protect the environment.
Khan says some of the natural resources like forest contribute to climate change if they are not used wisely.
Deforestation rate in South Sudan is one of the highest in the world, he notes.
The launch of NAPA is very important because it identified programmes to embark on the impact of climate change in the country, says Joseph Africano Batale, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
He explains that South Sudan is experiencing drought and diseases as some of the impacts of climate change.
Batale says they have a document containing 28 projects for South Sudan to adapt to the climate change.
He calls for more funding to implement the projects.
