The Mayor of Tonj revived six customary courts after restructuring them.

Joseph Anei Madoor said he had formed a five-people committee to interview heads of the various courts regarding their competencies after he banned eight courts last month.

He told Radio Don Bosco that the unclear number of the customary courts led to the closure of some.

Anei mentions that the committee restructured the courts in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009.

He says the committee suggested some courts to be in six Block of Municipal Council and ‘Bench Court’ at the Headquarters.

Anei proposes the workshop for official inauguration to follow which he expects the governor to attend.

He says the State High Court will help in giving all courts clear amount of fees and fines.

The Mayor pleads to the public to cooperate with the courts for proper execution of duties.
