South Sudanese must be willing to accommodate one another in the government, says the Chairman of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC.
Festus Mogae reiterates that JMEC strongly believes South Sudan’s problems must be resolved politically, not forcefully.
He says 2017 began with increasing fighting in Equatoria and Upper Nile regions.
Security is the foundation stone upon which every other aspect of South Sudan’s future will be built, Mogae stresses.
JMEC demands respect for ceasefire and restoration of peace by all parties without renegotiation, he says.
Mogae was speaking in Juba during the opening of first plenary this year.
